Top Reasons A Toshiba Laptop Won't Charge The Battery
Toshiba laptop won't
charge the battery? Well then it's time to do a little detective work to uncover
the cause! Fortunately, there are only a few possible reasons for this
frustrating problem and most of them don't require a B.S. in Computer Science.
This article will cover the most common causes and their solutions as they
relate to Hardware, the stuff the computer is made of; Software, the programs
that help run the computer; and User Error, what happens between the Computer
and the Chair.
Hardware is the most expensive problem of the three
categories just covered Rigid flex,
especially when we talk about battery problems. On average, a new battery will
run around $150; however, replacing the battery is also the easiest resolution.
The quickest way to know if it's just a dead battery is to know how old the
laptop is. Odds are, with a laptop around 5 years old, a new battery will be
needed. That may not seem like a ton of time for a battery to be operational,
but how about when it's considered how frequently laptops are used today? They
aren't turned off while charging, and most of the time left on for far too long
anyways, so it's surprising they work as long as they do! In summary, check the
battery first before moving onto any more steps Rigid flex PCB.
Software is
number two here, as most people don't realize that laptops have tons of energy
maintenance and usage settings to keep up with federal energy standards, most of
which are easily found in the "Control Panel", under "Energy Settings". The only
big issue here is if the battery is turned off, and yes this can actually
happen. Additionally, ensure that all of the drivers are up-to-date. More often
than not, one device or piece of hardware not having an up-to-date driver will
result in multiple failures across the entire platform. In English, most devices
are tied together, and if they're not updated, they can't communicate correctly
and won't work correctly either. Just go to the "Control Panel" and then to
"Device Manager". This should allow an update to all device drivers at once, and
clear up any energy management issues that could result in battery
failure.
There's a story about someone calling a customer service agent
about a computer problem, and the first thing the representative asked was, "Is
your computer plugged in?" The funny part is that when the person looked, it
wasn't. This story helps show how a simple fix can be the answer 98% of the
time. So, is the battery actually connected like it should be? Take a look when
you turn your computer upside down. Have any of the screws that hold the battery
door in place fallen out, or are they loose? The small spring-loaded clip that
holds the battery in place can also break or become stuck, so check that too.
Lastly, turn-off the computer, plug it into the wall, and let it recharge for at
least 12 hours. This usually works because it allows the battery a full charge
before being put back into use.
So, as a recap, you probably have one of
the three common problems addressed in the previous paragraphs: an issue with
the actual battery, device drivers that are out-of-date, or a common sense issue
that usually takes just minute of looking to realize. Hopefully this article
gave a few good directions to go, and with any luck, that Toshiba laptop that
won't charge its battery will be back in action in no time!
