Established in 1972, the department has grown remarkably to train students
using state of the art technology. The department has well qualified and
experienced faculty members. The department has the most advanced laboratory
facilities available. The placement record of the department is very good. Most
students receive at least two job offers.
The department offers four year
B.E Degree course in Electronics and Communication Engineering and two year post
graduation M.Tech Degree in Digital Electronics and Advanced Communications and
M.Tech Degree in Microelectronics. The department has conducted many conferences
and workshops on recent technology. The department has a good record of research
activities with many publications in international and national journals and
conferences.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was
established in the year 1972. The department has well qualified and highly
motivated faculty and well equipped laboratories to cater the needs of both the
UG and PG students. The facilities in the department are also capable to meet
the requirements of the faculty for their research work.
The branch of
Engineering offered by the department is one of the most sought after branch by
all the prospective students and is filled by the meritorious ones. The
Department offers two PG programmes, one in DEAC (Digital Electronics and
Advanced Communication) and the other in Microelectronics.
The department
has got ten fully equipped labs including PCB lab, DSP lab, Fiber Optic lab,
VLSI lab and MEMS lab. There is also a departmental Library. The associated
clubs of E& C departments are I.E.(E & C) and IEEE.
In addition to
their regular teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the faculty
engage actively in research work in various areas like Digital Signal
Processing, Optical Fiber Communication, VLSI design, Nano materials, Devices,
MEMS, NEMS etc., and publish papers in national and international conferences
and indexed journals. The students also undertake quality project works and
publish papers at various prestigious conferences/student paper presentation
contests under the guidance of faculty members. Students of this department have
excelled in their assignments in different organizations over the years. This
fact is substantiated by the excellent placement records and the fact that large
number of prestigious multinational companies are visiting the department for
placements.
The department had conducted short-term courses in emerging areas
of Electronics and Communications such as High Speed Communication Networks Rigid flex PCB, Embedded systems using
FPGA's ARM Processor etc. In 2005 & 2007 Department has conducted National
Conferences. Dept is also organizing an International Conference in association
with IEEE during December 2009.
